South African EdTech Week 2024: Gallery
South African EdTech Week 2024, hosted in partnership with Mastercard Foundation at Hasso Plattner d-school Afrika at the University of Cape Town, has been a week of inspiration, knowledge-sharing, and meaningful connections. Here's a quick recap of each day, highlighting the key moments, invaluable insights, and incredible individuals who contributed to this milestone event.
🌟 Day 1: Empowering Teachers and EdTech Implementers
We started a dynamic day centred on empowering educators and EdTech implementers. The day was filled with co-design sessions, training, and hands-on workshops tailored to make tech in classrooms more accessible and impactful. Highlights included collaborative design challenges and thoughtful discussions on the role of technology in transforming learning environments. The energy was palpable, and the exchange of ideas set the stage for the week ahead.
🚀 Day 2: Collaboration and Impact in EdTech
Day 2 was about exploring collaboration's power in EdTech across Africa. Hosted once again at d-school Afrika, this day brought stakeholders across the education ecosystem to discuss ways to leverage partnerships and scale impact. Panels like "EdTech Evidence in Practice" featured insights from Edulution, Grow ECD, Firdale Consulting, and the Roger Federer Foundation. Another standout was the discussion on "Impact Investing to Scale" with contributions from Mr Price Foundation and Oppenheimer Memorial Trust.
One of the highlights was a fireside chat on overcoming "parallel play" to achieve genuine collaboration, featuring leaders from Wesgro, NASCEE, JET Education Services, and Book Dash. We ended with the candid "What I Wish I Knew" Founder Conversation, where founders from Startup Club ZA, Yebo Fresh, and Botlhale AI shared lessons on navigating the challenges of scaling a business.
✨ Day 3: Showcasing Solutions and Inspiring Change
And just like that, SA EdTech Week 2024 ended, leaving us inspired and motivated. We started with a keynote from the Mastercard Foundation, setting an inspiring tone for our Fellows, who showcased their EdTech solutions already creating real-world impact. Rachel Kolisi from the Kolisi Foundation gave a heartfelt address on bridging educational gaps, a powerful reminder of our collective mission in advancing education.
Our Speed Dating session was a hit, sparking lively exchanges and ideas for future collaboration. We wrapped up with closing reflections, celebrating the milestones achieved and looking forward to the next chapter in EdTech innovation.
This incredible week would not have been possible without our dedicated partners. We thank for the ongoing partnership, Hasso Plattner d-school Afrika for hosting us, and our other partners, such as Wesgro, Snapplify, Wonde, Edulution, and Schoolscape. We could not do this work without their support.
