Scaling Holistic Teacher Development with Keller Education
Keller Education was co-founded by Brad Keller and his father, Gavin Keller, a seasoned school leader who spent nearly 30 years leading one of Cape Town’s top-performing schools. His approach, centred on emotional intelligence, resilience, and kindness, consistently delivered strong learner outcomes.
After witnessing the impact of this model firsthand, Brad and Gavin were approached by a group of entrepreneurs who saw its potential far beyond a single school. They posed a powerful challenge: Could this approach be scaled to thousands of schools across the country?
With the support of Leor Atie and Clark Gardner, the Kellers accepted the challenge, and Keller Education was born.
An EdTech Solution Built for Scale
Keller Education was officially established in 2020. Since then, it has grown into a leading provider of professional development for teachers, impacting thousands of educators and hundreds of thousands of learners through its science-backed training model.
A Human-Centred Approach to Teaching
South Africa’s education system is under pressure. Teachers are overworked, under-supported, and frequently excluded from discussions about meaningful professional development. In lower-quintile schools, access to relevant, high-quality professional development is exceptionally scarce.
Keller Education addresses this gap with a clear and practical solution: in-person and online teacher development rooted in neuroscience and emotional intelligence.
Their training focuses on how teachers teach, not what they teach. That means equipping educators with methods like Mind Brain Education Science, Mindful Thinking, and Emotional Intelligence, all aimed at improving connection, engagement, and classroom culture.
